Mineral Makeup VS Traditional Makeup- Why You Should Ditch the Supermarket Brands

Grab a seat, a snack and get comfy, this is a good one.

Is your makeup the cause of your underlying skin condition? Or is it aggravating your skin to the point of sensitivity? Maybe your skin care routine is up to scratch, you are having monthly skin treatments, but for some frustrating reason you keep getting little bumps just beneath the top layers of your skin and you can’t get that healthy-looking skin no matter how much make-up you apply.

Imagine having makeup that is an extension to your skin care routine. Makeup so pure, that it doesn’t clog, irritate or contain any of those nasty ingredients that are causing your skin to go backwards. Well, THERE IS SUCH A THING! Mineral Cosmetics – It’s amazing! No more sacrificing that beautiful skin of yours!

Let’s dive into why you should STOP using traditional makeup, the root of the problem, and talk about why Mineral Cosmetics should be the extension of your skin care. In this case, you can make the cake and eat it too! How wonderful!

What exactly is the cause of all this havoc with the skin?  Well, the ingredients; here is a list of some of the nasties you can find in your typical makeup product and the effects not only on the skin but our body as a whole.

Harmful Ingredients In Traditional Makeup

Parabens

Mainly used as preservatives, and have no problem penetrating into the skin. shocker! Can cause reproductive interference, mimics estrogen levels and impacts the immune system.

Heavy Metals

Normally found in coloured makeup such as blushes, eyeshadows and lipsticks.  Chronic fatigue, digestive issues, immunity issues, headaches, sore joints and rashes are just some of the effects it has on the body.

Octinoxate

Mostly found in foundations, lipsticks and sunscreens. An unstable chemical that absorbs into the skin at a rapid rate and mimics estrogen and can disrupt thyroid function. Also, can be detected in urine, blood and breast milk. This is a scary one.

Carbon Black

Black pigment mostly found in mascara, eye liner & lipsticks. Linked to cancer and organ toxicity.

Siloxanes

Chemical compounds that aid in softening products to give it that nice, smooth ‘feel’. Well, these guys disrupt the endocrine system and are toxic to the reproductive system!

BHA/BHT (Butylated Hydroxyanisole and Butylated Hydroxytoluene

Preservatives composed of chemical compounds. Also used for antioxidants in lipsticks. This ingredient has sadly been linked to endocrine disruption, organ-system toxicity and the cancer.

Petrolatum (Petroleum Jelly)

Used as a moisturising agent, this ingredient itself is normally used as a refined product which has no reported health effects. However, if unrefined and contaminated with toxic chemicals, can result in linked health concerns such as skin irritation and allergies. So just avoid this ingredient all together.

Mineral Oils

Derived from Petroleum Jelly.

Fragrance

Artificial and synthetic fragrances are known to irritate the skin and cause inflammation.

The above ingredients have a major impact on your skin’s microbiome, which means it can alter the way your skin functions in a negative way. Bacteria is one of many contributors to using drug store makeup and this can lead to serve acneic skin conditions.

Now, think of how many makeup products you apply each morning. Wow that’s a lot of nasty ingredients! Holy Moly! Who would’ve thought that your foundation is impacting not only your skin but your hormones, immune system and is cancerous.

Mineral Cosmetics on the other hand uses high performing, nourishing, healing and calming ingredients. A perfect synergy for healthy, thriving skin.
